Increasing Combustion
The last element in making the gun more powerful is
increasing
combustion. The key in doing this is that you have to be able to burn
more propellant. This can be attempted in various different ways. First
one could try to pressurize the combustion chamber with pressurized air
or inject a high concentration of oxygen (i.e. more than the 20% in the
air). Trying to increase the pressure inside the chamber is very
difficult because the chamber is in most cases not air tight and even
when it is it can withstand very much pressure. Therefore it is
probably more feasible to inject oxygen and then add the correct amount
of propane. Oxygen can be purchased relatively inexpensively at the
nearest hardware store (in comes in the same canisters as the propane).
Injecting oxygen can
be very dangerous. I
have NOT tried this and do not know what will happen. The pipe may
explode. Attempt this at your own risk. According to people who have
tried this; it isn't a very good idea.
